Al Safsafeh Dibeen Trail

About the Site

The trail begins in Al-Safsafa forests, branching off from the Jordan trail after passing through the town of Sakib and down to Umm-Jouza and Al-Safsafa. Before starting the trail, hikers can see the hanging tombs area and begin walking through the dense forests, which are distinguished by their plant biodiversity of Aleppo pine trees, maples, wild pear, oaks, orchids, iris nigricans, and anemone coronaria. The trail continues to the view of the valleys of the Levant and Karm-Aqab, and passes through Ain-Jahdab, which is a resting point for farmers from the region and owners of agricultural lands and olive and almond farms.

The trail continues through the forests of the cedar reserve and the deer reserve, and along the outskirts of the Dibbeen forest reserve, which has enormous biodiversity and is considered, according to international classification, the last extension towards the south of the natural Aleppo pine forests (Juniperus Excelsa) in the northern hemisphere. The trail offers a panoramic view that reaches a height of (1050 m) above sea level, showing the outskirts of Al-Salt city, the capital Amman, Zarqa, Mafraq, and Jerash. Along the trail, visitors can also see the remains of agricultural settlements that date back to the 2nd century AD, and pass through the water spring of Al-Qudrato, before ending the trail at the association of women of the Jerash mountains.
