Beit Jiddi, run by Mariam Farahat, is in a beautiful location at the start of the Al Safsafa Trail in Jerash. The walk up the short hill leads you to the home…. an old traditional stone building with open terraces and gardens that overlook the valley of Jerash.
This special locale is in a lively and vibrant location. It offers overnight accommodations for groups up to 25 persons along with local experiences to enhance your visit. The rooms are traditional and simple with a nod back to the past. Arab style seating (floor seating cushions) is available on the terrace where you take your meals, learn a new skill, and sip on traditional tea or coffee brewed over an open fire while enjoying the views and natural scenery.
Your stay here at Beit Jiddi can be filled with a variety of activity options that will appeal to all ages. Learn and make your own pottery using local materials that Jerash is famous for. You can try your skill at embroidery, learning new stitches and what they mean. Pick fresh aloe vera and make some soap. Fancy an opportunity at learning some new recipes? Mariam will happily teach you her cooking secrets for such local specialities such as Local Country Style breakfast or Rashoof (lentil and rice soup in yogurt base), Mansaf (the national dish of Jordan made with fermented yogurt, rice and meat), Maftoul (wheat-based grains served with meat and sauce). Learn how to bake your own bread or Moajanat (spinach, cheese or meat stuffed pastry) over an open fire and traditional oven. Dessert is important and after your meal, make Knafe (shredded sweetened dough with local cheese and sugar syrup) over a campfire.
Since the home is located on the Jordan Trail, you may join a hike to Ajloun and back and enjoy a home cooked meal after walking across the Jerash landscape.
